Historical Places In Tanjung Malim

Tanjung Malim in my opinion is a historical town. Where UPSI itself before this is a college and it was found before Malaysia have achieved independent which is in 1917. There are many historical landmark here in Tanjung Malim. So, if you have time to sigh seeing you may just as well go and take a look.
1. Bangunan Suluh Budiman
Bangunan Suluh Budiman is a building located on the new campus Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah. It is the oldest building in Tanjong Malim and is a symbol and pride of UPSI. Moreover, the building was built back then when UPSI was formerly known as the Sultan Idris Training Centre (SITC).Bangunan Suluh Budiman was now restored and being maintained by UPSI.
2. Kampung Kubu
Kampung Kubu is being acknowledge as the oldest village here in Tanjung Malim. This village have many names such as Kampung Jambu, Kampung Bugis, Kampung Kubu and Tanjung Jambu. Kampung at first was known because it become a fortress to repel the attacks of Perak Sultante along the river of Bernam river and also it becomes the stronghold of defense plan.
3. Slim Village Second World War Location
There are historical places here in Slim Village. There is a signboard that will show you the place which was once had been a war zone places . You can just follow the signboard that will stated “Kawasan Sejarah Perang Dunia Ke-2” (Historical Location of the second World War)” here in this area it was on date of 7 January 1942, the British soldiers had been defeated by the Japanese soldiers causing many lives was lost and many equipment and properties was damaged.
4. Slim River Bridge
During the war, the British army tried to blow up the Slim river bridge in order to stop the Japanese soldiers from advancing. However, the bridge was still okay and was not destroyed. And yeah, the Japanese still managed to go in. Now, you can still see the effects of the bullets and bombs at this bridge.
5. Za'ba House
Za’ba house is small and old historical building once belong and occupied by Zainal Abidin Bin Ahmad or commonly known as Za’ba. He wrote many stories in the form of social criticisms going against the ills of the Malay society and against the British. He played a role in the formation of the Malaysian ruling party UMNO (United Malay National Organisation) and he also struggled for the independence of Malaysia. The house was renovated due the original condition is too old and was about to ruin. Unfortunately, this house have become the house for the guard in the university. I really hope this house will be preserved as it contained and valuable to our history.
